I’ve known Abner since high school. He went to St. George’s in Newport, Rhode Island. For work he takes pictures of boats and writes about them. The photos below brought him well north of the Aleutian Islands in the Bering Sea, Alaska. Abner has done work for National Fisherman, Wooden Boat, Professional Mariner, and many of the sail and cruising magazines. He currently is at work on a book, shooting the working vessels of San Francisco Bay–everything from head-boats fishing for halibut under the Golden Gate to enormous container ships inbound from Hong Kong. Check out Abner’s work at Kingmanphotography.com (Sorry the link won’t load on my blog.) Thanks.

Wow! Great article, and amazing photos!!! Thank you very much!
I haven’t read the article – but those pictures are amazing. He’s put himself in harm’s way in the tradition of gonzo photo journalists, while retaining the eye of a fine art photographer.
Holy Sh$#@ thats pretty amazing.
Absolutely great pictures!!!
